Bethlehem Church Christmas Party

Harry Potter Party

I went to the $1 store and bought "science fair" folded cardboard displays.  I painted a large window and then painted bricks all around for most of them.  I glued a sign (one for each location in Hogsmeade) at the top center of the windows or on the bricks on the sides.  I love how they turned out.  Even my daughter helped paint the bricks.
At Madam Malkins we will make house flags and ties

At the Daily Prophet we play word games with these puzzles.  We will also make Shrink Dink charm bracelets.

At the Owl Post Office we will make light switch plates that say Lumos & Nox.

At Gringotts we will add hot glue to our dragon eggs.

At Olivanders we will make wands with dowels and hot glue.

At Zonkos we will make Pygmy Puffs.

At Honey Dukes we will make chocolate frogs and bee's

At the Three Broomsticks we will make Butter Beer with Cream Soda and Butterscotch topping mixed in.
We will take photos in the car that gets stuck in the willow

We will play cornhole Quiditch

Dobby will be standing in a corner.

Mini Golf Course

My carpenter brother gave me some scrap wood and the thought came to me to make a mini golf course.  I cut 4x8 sheets of plywood in half length wise.  I nailed 2x2's on the under side and 1x2's on the top.  I cut 4" pvc pipe for the cups. I cut and added outdoor green carpet with the 1x2's on top of the carpet. The tiny green circles and cut from felt and tell where to start each course.  I am thrilled with how this turned out.

Huge Gingerbread Man Cookie Cutter

I made this huge gingerbread man cookie cutter out of yard edging that I found at a thrift store.  It is tin.  First I drew a picture of a gingerbread man on a large piece of paper(newsprint).  I bent the tin edging around the curves.  When it was finished it was too flimsy to hold its shape.  I then cut out of some old scrap paneling wood the same gingerbread shape with a jigsaw.  I stapled the tin gingerbread man cookie cutter to the wood gingerbread man.  I would love to find a roll of sheet metal that was 4 inches wide to make this but this will do.  I'm excited to display it.

Little Free Library

My son Garrett made 4 Little Free Libraries for his Eagle Scout Service Project.  He had lots of help building, assembling, and installing them.  His first LFL went into a rural town in MT.  We had a ribbon cutting ceremony with a speech, chocolate treats, & bookmarks to color.

The LFL was cut using these plans modified to 17x17x20 to 27 (cut at a 90* angle). LFL instructions
We cut almost 2 LFL's out of one sheet of plywood.  We cut the roofs out of a scrap piece of plywood.  We are thrilled with how the LFL turned out.

Story Vignette

I love the saying "Every family has a story...welcome to ours"  and I also love barn quilts.  Really liking this vignette.

Winter Vignette

I found this toboggan at a thrift store and fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.  I cut out the snowflakes with a jigsaw and painted them white.  Love the look of  this.

Framed Medallions

With directions from artsychicksrule I made these framed medallions but added frames.  I love how they turned out.

Large Magnet Board

I made the large magnet board by bending 1" around the edges of a roll of metal and clipping the corners so they would bend in.  I used a 2x4 to bend the edges.  I love how this turned out.

Monogram Wreath

The background wood came from Walmart as well as the monogram letter M.  The berries I had and stapled to the sides of the letter M. I stained the letter M.  Love how this turned out.
